Earlier this summer, the USA Women's soccer team beat Japan 5-2 in the FIFA World Cup Final after months of hard work on the coaching field. The Final set a new television audience high for soccer in the United States and topped previous competition figures for Japan, capping an inspiring month in Canada that has underlined the global popularity of women’s football and the growing success of FIFA’s flagship women’s competition.

From all of us at People Academy, we would like to send our congratulations to everyone involved with the USWNT on what was a magnificent outcome. Whilst the players deserve all the plaudits, we should make special mention to the coaching team, led by Head Coach Jill Ellis, for the work they've done in delivering an historic third World Cup triumph for Team USA.

We would also like to take some time to congratulate one of the assistant coaches, Michelle 'Frenchie’ French, who the People Academy team have worked with and gotten to know over the last 12 months. Michelle has been part of our United States Olympic Elite Coaching programme and has been a pleasure to work with at events run in Colorado Springs and in Carson, California. Her enthusiasm for the game and her approach to coaching - and getting the best out of her players at all levels - has been a pleasure to watch.

Michelle participated in the very first USOC Cohort group with People Academy, looking at communication styles in coaching and the impact that has. She has been a big advocate of the programme and we would like to thank her for that. We also look forward to hearing of her further successes in the future!
